Finally, I pressed the button and pulled the switch! From today, this is the place on the internet where I'll be. NevOn, the blog I've been writing since July 2004, now becomes the archive of record for the 1,470 posts, 2,030 comments and 835 trackbacks that, cumulatively, make up some terrific conversations. If you subscribed to the FeedBurner RSS feed at NevOn, your subscription should transfer seamlessly to the similar feed for this blog. So you need do nothing - you'll continue to receive … [Read more...] about Welcome to NevilleHobson dot com
Reviewing where I'm at with this new blog as I make the final prep for switching over here as my new permanent place - that switch should happen during the next 24 hours or so - I was struck by the posts vs. comments ratio so far. I've just added FeedFlare functionality to this blog's posts and to the RSS feed. FeedFlare is a new service from RSS publisher FeedBurner that adds some useful features to your RSS feed and to your blog: FeedFlare allows publishers to easily build "interactivity" into the content they create, making it simple for subscribers to tag, email or share their content with others. Publishers can include a variety of services including a live display of the number of comments to each … [Read more...] about Smart RSS
Thinking about the look and feel of this new blog, one thing that was in my mind from early on was that I would create a new presence that is more geared to RSS than to a traditional site on the web. My own online reading habits have changed dramatically over the past year as RSS has been taken up by more and more sites on the web, not just blogs. Rarely do I visit websites when I subscribe to a particular site's feed. Indeed, about the only time I do is to leave a comment to a post or an … [Read more...] about RSS and Plan A
