Travelling to the UK today, ahead of co-presenting the second one-day workshop for Melcrum in London tomorrow on Enhancing your Intranet with New Technology: How to Make the Most of Social Media. The first one in this series was in Manchester last week. That workshop was very interesting indeed. I'm expecting the one on Thursday to be equally so. A post likely on both next week. Speaking of events, Blogging 4 Business took place in London yesterday. I was due to participate as a presenter but, … [Read more...] about News on the go
I arrived in Manchester in north-west England today ahead of my particpation in a one-day workshop for Melcrum I'm co-presenting tomorrow entitled Enhancing your Intranet with New Technology: How to Make the Most of Social Media. This is my third experience flying to and from Manchester with Jet2, a low-cost airline. I'm far more impressed than I thought I would have been. New Boeing 737s, efficient and friendly service and of course low cost (about half the price a KLM ticket costs on the same … [Read more...] about What more could you want when the sun is shining?
Sitting in economy class for ten hours on a transatlantic flight isn't really my idea of a fun way to spend time. The good news is that it was only ten hours flying back to Amsterdam from San Francisco. When you fly economy (or coach or cattle class, take your pick of descriptions), you know that you'll be squeezed in to relatively small seats with little space for movement. At least with KLM, the seat pitch on the MD-11 is quite reasonable for someone of my height (just under two meters) with … [Read more...] about Not much happened at 35,000 feet
Heading off back to Amsterdam today. It's been a terrific US trip. Shel's and Michele's hospitality last week was peerless. The New Communications Forum was outstanding. I met with IABC yesterday: great discussions. Terrific bars and restaurants here in San Francisco. My wife has gained her value from the trip (just don't pay any attention to the "sponsors" message in FIR show #117...), so everyone's happy. I've not posted much here this past week, certainly not as much as I'd planned to. Maybe … [Read more...] about Travelling home
I've just uploaded a bunch of photos to Flickr, all re my California trip including lots from the New Communications Forum. You can see the set here. Also, check out all the tagged Forum photos at Flickr. Here's a favourite - Shel and I with Jeff Clavier (on the left) and Sallie Goetsch, two of the regular listeners to FIR: Pic taken for us with my camera by Elizabeth Albrycht. (Click on the image to see a bigger version at Flickr.) More to come. [Technorati: newcomm forum, ncf2006] … [Read more...] about California pics on Flickr
If you travel a lot (or even a little) on business, it is well worth your time reading the stories of business travel - mostly horror but with some real positive gems and lots of irony - posted by my podcasting co-host Shel Holtz on his excellent Road Weary blog. Shel chronicles episodes of woe and weariness as he wends his way across North America in the service of his clients: No matter how successful any given trip may be, there's always some travel provider -- an airline, a hotel, a cab … [Read more...] about The power strip solution
