Add your views on fake news to SNCR research survey

August 25, 2017 by Neville Hobson

Marketers, do you know where your ads are running? In early August, the Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) of The Conference Board announced a new research initiative to tackle the problem of fake news, and investigate how to combat it. SNCR Advisory Board member Jeff Pundyk leads the SNCR Fellows research team (of which I am a member). Our project begins with an important first step - benchmarking marketers’ awareness, attitudes and intended actions as advertising technology … [Read more...] about Add your views on fake news to SNCR research survey

August 24, 2017 by Neville Hobson

Hashtags

How did we manage before Twitter? is a question I often hear, asked by a range of different people from casual personal users to immersed influence marketers. I've found it a great tool over the past decade to help me connect with others, share thoughts and opinions, bookmark ideas and join up the dots in conversations. It's that latter aspect that is especially useful thanks to the hashtag, a device created by Chris Messina that came to the fore a decade ago as a means of connecting people … [Read more...] about #Hashtag10: the best hashtag fails in a decade

August 14, 2017 by Neville Hobson

Using Twitter

In the August episode of The Hobson & Holtz Report, Shel and I talked about these topics: The Society for New Communications Research has launched an initiative to assess options for the communications industry to address fake news. An artificial intelligence bot can detect plagiarism (85% of the time). Supporters of US President Donald Trump are amplifying their tweets through a little-known Twitter feature that lets you create and name a Direct Message group. And let’s talk … [Read more...] about For Immediate Release 100: Locked and Loaded

SNCR research initiative sets out to find solutions to address fake news

August 8, 2017 by Neville Hobson

Truth

Hardly a day goes by without the topic of fake news becoming a news headline itself especially when it concerns Donald Trump. Earlier this year Tim Berners-Lee said that misinformation - or ‘fake news’ which is surprising, shocking, or designed to appeal to our biases - can spread like wildfire. And … [Read more...] about SNCR research initiative sets out to find solutions to address fake news
