Why social media matters

On May 12, I’m taking part in a breakfast-time panel discussion in the City that’s entitled Social media for corporates: essential lifeblood or unnecessary distraction. It’s a private event, hence no link to any information (although a report on the debate will be published in the next edition of CorpComms magazine). In fact there isn’t any information online that I could link to.

In any case, I think it’s going to be a very interesting discussion in front of about 90 guests, especially as I’m going to talk pro social media for business as others on the panel will be con social media for business.

One of the things the organizers asked me to do was let them have a concise paper that offers some thoughts on why social media is a good thing for business, copies of which will be given to the audience on the day.

So here’s Why Social Media Matters which I’ve posted to my Scribed account.

I’ve written this from a particular point of view and with a specific focus, and the content will form part of my argument pro social media for business.

If you’d like to help me present a really compelling case, what would you suggest I should also include on the day?
