Just updating some details on my list of speaking engagements at events in the coming months as we head into the summer.
This month, May, I’m leading New Media for Old Hands, a popular half-day professional development workshop I developed for the CIPR, first introduced in 2007 and updated for today, in two separate sessions:
- Wednesday May 6 – London
- Thursday May 14 – Edinburgh
I like to call this workshop “A social media rough guide for communicators.†Here’s the outline description from the CIPR’s website:
Gone are the days when print and the broadcast media were the only tools of public communication. With the explosion of the Internet and decentralisation of the media, it’s clearly time for people who have been heavily involved in the old media to explore new creative options!
This 3-hour highly practical session focuses on providing advice and solutions for real life issues faced by experienced PR practitioners who want to learn more about New Media and how they can incorporate them into their current work.
This intermediate level Masterclass is designed for delegates who want to update their knowledge on new communication options and stay relevant in their field of work.
You can register online. Note that the workshop is also running in September and November, so opportunities are there if you can’t make either date this month.
I’ll also be at Somesso London 09 on Friday May 15, not as a speaker but as a participant and, no doubt, blogger, tweeter and audiobooer. I’ll be there as part of the blogger relations programme the event organizer is running.
You could also be there, at no cost, if you win a free ticket in the FIR Listener Contest! Still time: the contest runs until May 8.
Held at the Emirates Stadium in North London – home of The Gunners – Somesso London 09 is set to be the corporate social media event of the year.
Among the speakers are many names that you’ll no doubt recognize, including Stowe Boyd, Jason Falls, Lee Bryant, Andy Piper, Nick Burcher, and more.
These speakers will share their experiences and lead discussion to focus the inspiration and lessons from early adopters, plus advice on implementation and ROI, and will culminate in an open panel addressing many of the issues facing people in organizations in the corporate adoption of social media.
Hope to see you at one or more event in May.
