Birthday thanks

October 27, 2007 by Neville Hobson

It was my birthday last Tuesday. I received the usual cards from family and friends. I also received good wishes from many of my friends on Facebook and Twitter. One thing you'll notice is that the audio is a bit out of sync with the video. Can't figure out how to correct that (any suggestions?). I … [Read more...] about Birthday thanks

And if you're job hunting, here's a great example of how your writing can be instrumental in landing a new job. FIR correspondent Dan York was laid off from his regular job a short while ago. He'd … [Read more...] about How a blog can help you get that job

Marks and Spencer on climate change

October 23, 2007 by Neville Hobson

Going in to Marks and Spencers' store in Sandhurst on Sunday, I couldn't help but see this large wall poster at the store entrance: It wasn't so much the statement that caught my attention but more the web address - www.marksandspencer.com/PlanA. I like a company who says they have a Plan A for any purpose. It brings to mind a sense of connection with the way people tend to see things, plus a bit of humour. So a visit to Plan A at the M&S website brings up a wide range of information, rich … [Read more...] about Marks and Spencer on climate change

Reasons to be unhappy with Virgin Media

October 23, 2007 by Neville Hobson

I received a letter the other day from Virgin Media telling me about a few reasons to be cheerful as a Virgin Media customer. In his introduction, Steve Stewart, managing director of customer care, says we could all do with a bit of cheering up after the 'summer' (his quotes) we've just had. Stewart's letter and accompanying brochure were all to do with Virgin Media's big marketing push for its combined TV, broadband, phone and mobile offer. And it is a pretty good offer - all those services for … [Read more...] about Reasons to be unhappy with Virgin Media
