Is the date correct this time?

I’m writing this with Windows Live Writer, the new beta blogging tool launched by Microsoft a couple of days ago.

I think it’s very good indeed. I’ve already tried it out with my primary blog - running on WordPress - and encountered issues with the date/time stamp where a post published fine but with a date in 1999.

I’ve not found any solution in spite of posting help requests at WordPress Support and the Windows Live Writer website.

One suggestion from someone in the Windows Live Writer MSN Groups discussion forum is to change the date and time format in the blog.

Instead of how I have it currently (16 August 2006), change it to an abbreviated format, as in 16-08-2006. My fellow blogger said the change resulted in a post with the corrrect date.

Before I do that, this post is one more little test to see if a post can publish with the correct date and time.

Here goes…

[Post-publish edit] It published with the correct date and time. But I forgot - this blog has a different date/time format than my primary blog in that it is already set up for date/time in an abbreviated format.

To test this properly, I need to change that format here to reflect exactly what it is on the primary blog. Then test again.

Trying Hemingway

Playing with different Wordpress themes, I’m settling on Hemingway for the moment.

I’ve always liked this theme so here’s an opportunity to try it. Quite different to a standard weblog theme.

Back to Kubrik

I’m not really sure I like the new K2. Fonts are larger and I don’t like how they look compared to the previous beta (which I use for my primary blog).

Neither am I sure about the Sidebar Modules so I’ve disabled the plugin for the moment. I’m going to check out the WordPress Widgets plugin.

Reverted to the default Kubrik theme for the time being.

Something else, too - pages load with a blank. In Firefox, if I then click on the ‘Go’ arrow to the right of the address bar, pages then load. I wonder if that’s to do with the WP-Cache plugin.

K2 installed

K2 0.9 theme applied. Also Sidebar Modules 1.0.5.

No major setting changes in either yet.

Setting up the sandbox

Another new blog, quickly set up with Dreamhost’s 1-Click install.

This is a place I’ll be using for testing and experimenting with WordPress. Prime motivation to set this up is to test the new version 0.9 of the K2 theme before (if) I apply it to my main blog. Also to test the new Sidebar Modules plugin.

All to come.
