A dose of pre-Budget propaganda

I just spend a minute and a half watching Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling talking about the 2009 UK budget, the details of which he’ll be presenting to Parliament in a few days time, on April 22.

What do you think of it?

I don’t know about you, but I’m left only with one question after viewing this video – what’s the point of it?

This video presents the topic in such a patronizing way that I’m left with the feeling that it’s nothing more than simple propaganda, a feeble attempt to present a sympathetic picture of a man doing a difficult job as in a party political broadcast.

This is just like the kind of tame and scripted stuff you’d expect to see in a TV interview. Where’s the authenticity, the genuine and believable sense of the man? Not in a video like this.

If I want to see such drivel, I’d prefer to wait until campaigning for the next General Election starts.

Then I can plan for what to avoid, thank you.
