What are you doing on Blog Action Day?

BlogActionDay-300x250

I decided to support this global initiative, which aims to unite bloggers, podcasters and videocasters around the world to post about the same issue on the same day.

That day is Wednesday October 15 and the issue is global poverty.

Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion.

One Issue, Thousands of Voices

Global issues like poverty are extremely complex. There is no simple, clear answer. By asking thousands of different people to give their viewpoints and opinions, Blog Action Day creates an extraordinary lens through which to view these issues. Each blogger brings their own perspective and ideas. Each blogger posts relating to their own blog topic. And each blogger engages their audience differently.

If you write a blog, consider being part of a noble cause, one for which I believe every individual can make a difference.

If you don’t write a blog, consider joining in discussion in the posts by those who have written something.

Add your voice. You can make a difference.

After my experiences in Cambodia, I’ll certainly be blogging about this on Wednesday.

Thanks for flagging it up.

In Brum the Birmingham bloggers group is running a free social media surgery for community activists and voluntary groups:

Hopefully we can help those who alleviate poverty.

I run a small charity so I’m definitely giving this a go – thanks for the heads up. I can’t wait to see how well this goes – it shows just how important each individual voice can be and how we CAN make a difference.

Nick, I read your post on what you’re planning in Birmingham. Wow, massive!
