Today I travel to Chicago, USA, where I’ll be participating in the New Media Academic Summit 2008, organized by Edelman and co-hosted by Edelman and PR Week.
There’s an impressive lineup of speakers, and an equally if not more impressive line up of participants representing nearly 70 universities from across North America.
As a participant from Europe, I’ll be taking part in a panel discussion that will address how countries other than the USA are using new media and how new media is affecting how they communicate.
And on Friday, there are plans for a social meetup.
I don’t plan to live blog from the summit, more likely quick commentaries via Twitter. Plus keeping an eye out for low flying objects

we just finished sharing best practise scenarios during a small group workshop in the Dublin Institute of Technology and hope you can point to interesting ways American educators leverage social media in education. In some ways, I think the European college students are ahead because many of these Europeans have faster mobile data connections and low-cost phone plans already running in their backpacks on the first day of class.
Have a great trip Neville. Some good stuff came out of last year’s event and I look forward to your take on this one. and I am glad my collegues made this one a little more global with folk like yu in attendence.
