This list is quite a project that Brendan has been doing more or less monthly since June.
I don’t pretend to understand the depth of how he works out the ranks in the listing – just as I don’t with the AdAge Power 150 list – but this index might add to your perception of a blogger and the content he or she publishes in terms of influence.
Another way to look at it is simply as a means of discovering PR blogs new to you. I’ve found quite a few.
As I mentioned in relation to a recent post on another ranking of blogs, make of it what you will.

If I was being picky (which I clearly am, otherwise I wouldn’t post this comment), I’d say this has one major flaw which is that the 100 blogs have been pre-selected by Brendan himself.
So it’s a good way of measuring and ranking those 100, but not much more.
Well done, Neville. Of the top ten, you’re one of only two to promote your full name via the blog name and domain name. Shel’s only halfway there and the rest are nowhere.
Are we all (assuming most bloggers are individuals) missing a trick?
Nialls’ is a fair point but:
* I always said it was from my own selection
* How else would one choose which blogs to include, if it weren’t by selection?
* Now that I’ve got my methodology sorted I could always accept invitations to join (hint)
* Any study of any kind whatsoever is going to be flawed, simply given that it will necessarily involve a subset of the entire internet, there’s debate about what constitutes PR, about what constitutes a blog even, etc etc etc. This just presents an alternative way of doing it (ie measuring authority and/or being flawed!)

It’s a fair point, Niall, and Brendan has answered it perfectly.
Richard, it’s all to do with branding (a topic on my mind at the moment), isn’t it? A few of the names in Brendan’s list are now sufficiently well known (eg, Micro Persuasion), perhaps more recognizable than an individual’s name. But I think that promoting your own name is a better bet.
So to your question: yes, tricks are being missed, imo.
