Thanks Derek. While installation was painless, I've had a few interesting experiences in using Vista over the past week. Follow up post to come.

Well done! I'm glad to see Stuart and I aren't the only out there who found the installation relatively painless!

For me, Susabelle, 'stunning' is the right word. It goes far beyond the pretty stuff you see on screen and into what the various elements actually do as you interact with them.

Glass is very cool, there's no doubt. Yet all my Mac-o-phile friends already scoff, saying they've had better coolness on their Macs for years. That's as maybe - what's relevant to a Windows user is now you can have it on your PC as well.

But, it looks like beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

"especially if you want to take advantage of the coolest usability feature of all - Windows Aero, specifically Aero Glass which offers stunning glass-like translucency effects to everything you see on your desktop. It exceeds the expectations I had from just reading about it or seeing screenshots."

C'mon, Neville. "Stunning?" I'm using Vista on a Dell GX745 with a 22" Apple Cinema Display. I don't see "stunning." I see "nice" and "purty" but I don't see "stunning." I was not impressed.

Glad to know it wasn't just me. It took over a quarter of an hour for me to finally figure out how to get my new copy of MS Office 2007 out of the funky new "box." Finally I had to admit defeat and get help from my wife. Of course she solved the puzzle in about twenty seconds.
